National Jewish Health Kunsberg Classic Features Dinner at Shanahan’s and Golf at The Sanctuary

Funds Raised to Benefit School for Chronically Ill Children

For the second year in a row, golfers from across the nation will gather in Denver in early August for the National Jewish Health Kunsberg Classic at The Sanctuary and Shanahan’s. The Kunsberg Classic on Aug. 5 and 6 is presented by RE/MAX, LLC, and sponsored by Shanahan’s. The golf event will raise funds for Kunsberg School, a tuition-free day school at National Jewish Health, serving 90 chronically ill students in kindergarten through eighth grade.

The two-day event begins with a private dinner and auction on Sunday, Aug. 5, at Shanahan’s, Denver’s premier steak and seafood restaurant. On Monday, Aug. 6, participants will enjoy a day of golf at The Sanctuary, the exclusive, world-recognized course in Sedalia, Colo.

Co-chairs of the National Jewish Health Kunsberg Classic are Mike Harms, Vice President of GE Johnson Construction Co., and Marc Steron, Managing Partner of Shanahan’s. Committee members include Paulette Brody, Stanton Dodge, David Engleberg, Steve Kris, Lots Pook, Eddie Robinson, Scott Robinson and Meyer Saltzman.

Kunsberg School, which is supported through donations to National Jewish Health, provides a safe, friendly and healthy school environment where students succeed academically, medically and socially. Typically, Kunsberg students have fallen behind their peers in school because of respiratory illnesses, including severe asthma and/or allergies, sickle cell anemia, diabetes, HIV/AIDS and other disorders.

Kunsberg students receive care and learn to manage their illnesses from three nurses and National Jewish Health pediatricians. They eat nutritious meals, exercise daily and practice positive social interaction. The students learn in small classes from teachers with advanced degrees using the latest educational technology tools. They demonstrate their knowledge by showing steady improvements on the CSAP test and outpacing their peers in similar schools. Upon graduation, Kunsberg students have the skills to lead healthy, productive, meaningful and active lives.
