Del Archuleta and Gov. Garrey Carruthers Honored at Dinner Benefiting National Jewish Health

Adelmo “Del” Archuleta, CEO of Molzen Corbin, and former Gov. Garrey Carruthers were honored for their contributions to New Mexico on April 23 at the 30^th annual New Mexico Spirit of Achievement Award Dinner. The event raised $44,000 to benefit the nation’s number one respiratory hospital, National Jewish Health.

Among the nearly 225 guests at the dinner were state Sen. John Ryan and New Mexico State University Regents Laura Coniff and Christopher Dulany.

The Spirit of Achievement Award is presented to individuals throughout the nation who are distinguished by their civic and charitable contributions. Carruthers and Archuleta are two of New Mexico’s most distinguished philanthropists, having supported dozens of worthy organizations across the state.

Debbi Moore, President of the Rio Rancho Regional Chamber of Commerce and emcee of the April 23 dinner, was the first to congratulate Archuleta and Carruthers after National Jewish Health Trustee Dale Dekker presented their awards. “You are making a difference in people’s lives, not only in New Mexico but also around the world,” she said.

The New Mexico Spirit of Achievement Award Dinner chair was Sherman McCorkle, Sandia Science and Technology Park Development Corporation. Treasurer was Marcia Hembree, Bank of Albuquerque. The committee included Clara Apodaca, Kathleen Avila, Wryan Capps, Pat Vincent-Collawn, Pat Dee, Dale Dekker, Christine and Joe Di Gregorio, Jesse Dompreh, Robert Feinberg, Greg Leyendecker, Edward Lujan, Cynthia Reinhart, Jenifer Riordan, Michael Stanford and Lynn Trojahn.

National Jewish Health, which is based in Denver, has strong ties to New Mexico. Its physicians treated nearly 2,200 New Mexico residents with respiratory, cardiac, immune and related diseases over the last three years, and thousands more in the 30 years since the Spirit of Achievement Award Dinner began. Over the last three years, National Jewish Health also provided more than $100,000 in charity care to New Mexicans. Currently 10 physicians who trained at National Jewish Health practice in New Mexico.
