Renowned Lung-Cancer Specialist James Jett, MD, Joins National Jewish Health

Denver, CO — Nationally recognized lung-cancer specialist James Jett, MD, has joined the faculty at National Jewish Health.  Dr. Jett will see cancer patients and conduct clinical research trials related to screening and the early detection of lung cancer.  Dr. Jett comes to National Jewish Health from Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, where he spent 29 of the past 32 years.  He belongs to the American College of Chest Physicians, American Thoracic Society and the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer. Dr. Jett’s research includes clinical and laboratory investigations in early detection and chemoprevention of lung cancer.
 

“Dr. Jett is an internationally known expert in lung-cancer therapy.  He has been a leader in identifying the value of CT screening for early detection of lung cancer,” said Jeffrey Kern, MD, Director of the Cancer Center at National Jewish Health.  “His experience and international standing are invaluable in establishing a new program such as our among the leaders in thoracic oncology.”

 Dr. Jett received his  MD at the University of Missouri.  He has held appointments as Professor of Medicine at Mayo Medical School and the University of Pittsburgh, and has served as a consultant for the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland.  Dr. Jett is Editor in Chief of the Journal of Thoracic Oncology.  Previously he has served on the editorial board for other major medical journals including Chest, Respiratory Medicine, and American Journal of Respiratory & Critical Care Medicine
