National Jewish Expert Supports Bill to Fund Methamphetamine Research

DENVER, CO —

National Jewish researchers have documented the toxic chemicals produced during the manufacture of methamphetamine. But many questions remain. What are long-term health effects for children living in clandestine meth labs? What are the risks of moving into a house that has been used as a meth lab? And what is the best way to clean a meth lab so the building can be safely occupied?

National Jewish researcher John Martyny, PhD, testified Thursday March 3, 2005 before the U.S. House Committee on Science in favor of H.R. 798, the Methamphetamine Remediation Research Act of 2005, which would provide research funding to answer these questions.
