Special Interests

I have dedicated over 20 years to researching allergic diseases, including atopic dermatitis (AD) and food allergy (FA). The skin's epidermal barrier is essential for shielding the body from allergens, chemicals, and air pollutants. Defects in this barrier are a significant factor in the development of skin inflammation and allergic conditions. AD and FA are among the most common allergic disorders, affecting millions globally. My research focuses on how environmental factors, such as air pollution and temperature variations, impact epigenetic changes and the integrity of the skin barrier. Additionally, I have been exploring the challenges of chronic, non-healing wounds, such as diabetic ulcers, which represent a significant burden on healthcare systems and public health resources.
