Critical Illness Recovery Center

Critical Illness Recovery CenterLeaving the intensive care unit (ICU) after a serious illness is a hopeful time for many patients. But it also can pose unexpected challenges. Following treatment in the ICU, about 50 percent of patients experience post-intensive care syndrome (PICS). Symptoms include muscle weakness and balance issues, problems with thinking and memory, difficulty sleeping and depression.

A visit at the Critical Illness Recovery Center at National Jewish Health in Denver after you have been discharged from the hospital can:

  • Determine if you are experiencing PICS symptoms
  • Prevent future problems related to your illness from occurring
  • Help you recover faster and more fully

Our center is a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine’s Thrive Initiative, an international network of clinics that seeks to improve patient and family support after critical illness.
