Prolific Children’s Author Hosts Talk and Book Signing on Feb. 17, Proceeds Benefit National Jewish


DENVER —

Patricia Polacco, author of dozens of popular children’s books, including “The Keeping Quilt” and “Thank You, Mr. Falker,” will speak and sign her books at an event held in her honor at National Jewish Health on Thursday, Feb. 17, at 5:30 p.m. The event kicks off with a reception with Ms. Polacco, Her speech follows at 7 p.m. and a book signing hosted by the author is at 8 p.m. Books are available for purchase at the event.

 

As the number of guests is limited, those who wish to attend are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance. Tickets to the event are $10 per person and are available via email to jenningss@njhealth.org or by phone at 303.398.1904. Proceeds from the Patricia Polacco event will benefit the chronically-ill kindergarten through eighth-grade students at Kunsberg School on the campus of National Jewish Health.

Kunsberg School is a unique, free day school for kindergarten through eighth-grade students whose chronic illnesses may prohibit their attendance in traditional public or other schools.  Students receive individual and structured education programs to assist them in achieving academic and physical excellence, and prepare them to become independent, self reliant and responsible.  From three nurses, the 86 students in the school—most of whom come from families at or below the poverty level—learn specific medical self-care practices, enabling them to monitor and manage their illnesses and to go on to lead productive, meaningful and active lives.
