Multiple medicines exist for treating mastocytosis and its symptoms. Some of these medicines include:

  • Antihistamines, which are used to treat a variety of symptoms. Some antihistamines are used to treat itching and other skin irritants, while others are helpful for treating stomach ulcers. Specific antihistamines are also used for cases of severe flushing and low blood pressure, such as epinephrine.

  • Proton pump inhibitors, which treat ulcer-like symptoms.

  • Topical steroids, to reduce skin lesions.

  • Other forms of steroids, to treat malabsorption (the impaired ability to absorb nutrients from food).
