COPD Support Group (Adult class)

(2nd Thursday of every month, 2-3pm)

COPD Support GroupThe meetings will include an educational presentation (a different topic each meeting), followed by open discussion of any topic.

This monthly event takes place the second Thursday of every month from 2-3 p.m. at:

CPAP Support Group (Adult class)

(One Saturday of every month, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. (with a few exceptions))

CPAP MaskHave you been diagnosed with sleep apnea?
Have you been scheduled for a sleep study?
Are you using CPAP?
Are you struggling with CPAP?

Join us for one of our support groups, free and open to the public. Untreated sleep apnea can lead to serious medical issues such as:

  • high blood pressure
  • heart disease
  • heart attacks
  • irregular heart rhythms
  • strokes

All About Sleep Apnea Class (Adult class)

(Tuesdays from 3:30–4:30 p.m. and Thursdays from 3:30–4:30 p.m. (with a few exceptions))

Sleep ApneaThe All About Sleep Apnea class is an educational class for patients with sleep apnea and their families.

Meetings will include:

  • What is sleep apnea?
  • What causes sleep apnea?
  • What are the symptoms and consequences of sleep apnea?
  • What are your treatment options?
  • What else can you do to help your sleep apnea?

RSVP is required. Please call ahead of time to confirm this week’s class schedule at 303.270.2708.

Getting to the Meeting Room: Go in the main entrance and take the Galter elevator down to the basement. Follow the signs to the Sleep Clinic check-in desk.

Diabetes Support Group ( class)

(1st Saturday of every month,10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.)

Diabetes Support GroupProvides education on diabetes topics. Talk with others who have diabetes and discover useful ways to succeed in taking care of your own diabetes.

The class and support group are meant for those:
  • Diagnosed with prediabetes or diabetes
  • Who need to learn or review self-management skills
  • Who desire better blood sugar control
  • Who have a family member with prediabetes or diabetes

You will walk away feeling more confident to take care of your diabetes!

Guided Mindfulness Meditation (Adult class)

(Thursdays from 12p.m. to 1 p.m.)

While many people find it difficult to meditate, guided meditations make it easy for anyone to practice. Whether you meditate regularly or are new to the practice and wish to get started, guided meditations provide a way to effortlessly enter into a meditative state by the direction of an expert.

The session will be led by Lata Shirname-More, Manager, Div of Environmental Occupational Health Sciences, who has been a meditator for over 15 years  and teaching it as a volunteer & certified instructor, through the Art of Living Foundation, which operates in 154 countries.

No preparation or training required; the voice of the teacher will lead you.

Joe Walsh Memorial Pulmonary Fibrosis Support Group (Adult class)

(Second Tuesday of every month at 1:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. in Molly Blank, Room J105)

Joe Walsh Memorial Pulmonary Fibrosis Support GroupThe Joe Walsh Memorial Pulmonary Fibrosis Support Group at National Jewish Health provides a safe, secure environment for all patients with any type of pulmonary fibrosis and their family members, care providers and significant others.

The meetings will provide a different topic each month with open discussion at the end of the meeting.

This event is open to patients of National Jewish Health, as well as visitors and community members. All are welcome!

(3rd Thursday of every month, 2pm-3pm.)

Lung Cancer Support GroupLung cancer patients and survivors and their caregivers and family members are invited to attend.  The meetings will include a 30-minute educational presentation (a different topic each meeting), followed by open discussion of any topic. The group is open to people who have received treatment at National Jewish Health and elsewhere.

Mile-High Pulmonary Fibrosis Support Group ( class)

(Last Tuesday of every month, 2-3:30pm February - November.)

Mile High Pulmonary Fibrosis Support GroupThe Mile-High Pulmonary Fibrosis Support Group in Wheat Ridge, CO is dedicated to improving understanding of ILD & PF through education, emotional support and counseling for the patient, caregivers & significant others. It is important for the patient and family to stay informed about treatment options, exercise, diet, oxygen and clinical trials.

Supporting Each Other Together (Adult class)

A monthly open discussion Support Group for individuals with all types of Cancer.

The group is open to the public and welcomes patients from outside of National Jewish Health and patients treated by National Jewish Health physicians.

Transitioning to Plant-Based EatingThe Transitioning to Plant-Based Eating Support Group provides education and support to those wishing to eat more plant-based. Whether you need to adopt this lifestyle due to health conditions such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, osteoporosis, being overweight, etc., or you want to eat plant-based for other reasons, this group can help. Interact with experts who can help you get on a path that is sustainable, creates healthy change and handles challenges that may arise. Be with people who share your interest and who want to hear about your successes and help with roadblocks.

This is about you and your health. This is not a quick fix. We will explore the reasons behind overweight and weight gain, the benefits of weight loss, and focus on real solutions for the long-term. Come ready to listen, problem-solve and share. Learn from us, learn from each other, and start taking steps towards a healthier you.
