The accreditation is based on the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 15189:2012 Standard for laboratories’ technical competence, management and continual improvement. The accreditation process focuses on improved patient safety and risk reduction, outlining standards for quality and competence particular to medical laboratories.

“The ISO Standard is highly recognized globally. There are several thousand clinical laboratories in the United States alone, and Advanced Diagnostic Laboratories was among the first of only 43 laboratories worldwide to be accredited by CAP to ISO 15189:2012,” Max Salfinger, MD, FIDSA, FAAM, executive director, Advanced Diagnostic Laboratories, said. “Congratulations to all members of the National Jewish Health Advanced Diagnostics Laboratories Team for the exceptional accomplishments!”

National Jewish Health Advanced Diagnostic Laboratories (ADx) is a CAP, CLIA and CAP 15189SM laboratory providing immune and respiratory disease expertise to clinical, biotech, pharmaceutical, public health, and diagnostic partners. ADx is a high-complexity laboratory with decades of experience developing immunology, complement, infectious disease and molecular genomic tests. Through collaborations with the world-renowned physicians at National Jewish Health, ADx Laboratories develops high-quality, specialized laboratory tests and new therapies that transform lives.

“The ISO Standard provides a comprehensive quality management framework that allows laboratories not only to 'study for the exam' but also to 'learn for life,'” said Frank Schneider, MD, FCAP, and Chair of the CAP 15189 Committee. “Laboratories working towards implementation of the ISO Standard have chosen a path of continual improvement. They embrace their problems and seek intelligent solutions, thereby enhancing patient care as well as customer and staff satisfaction.”
