Description
Collect
Sputum is the only acceptable sample type.
Specimen Preparation
A slide is made by rubbing a swab onto a clean glass microscope slide. The slide must be allowed to air dry prior to submitting to the lab. Please label in pencil, on the frosted end of the slide with patient name.
Preferred volume: 1 mL sputum
Pediatric Collection
Minimum volume: 1 mL sputum
Storage Transport Temp
Offsite: Place slides in a slide container for transport at ambient temperature.
