Description
This assay assesses the ability of T cells to respond to antigenic stimulation with Candida albicans and tetanus toxoid. The test is used to evaluate patient immune status and responsiveness.Collect
Draw whole blood into Sodium Heparin (green top) tube.Patient Prep

Minimum volume: 2-3 mL bloodUnacceptable Conditions
Centrifuged specimens, specimens received after 30 hours of draw, frozen specimens, specimens in lithium heparin, specimens in tubes with gel such as SSTs and PSTs.
Storage Transport Temp
Maintain and transport specimens at room temperature (18-22°C).
Ship specimens Priority Overnight via Fed Ex in container sufficiently insulated to avoid temperature extremes (<10°C and >37°C).

Responses are compared with the laboratory-established normal range. For Tetanus, a response is considered to be normal if 2 out of 3 conditions are within the normal range. An uninterpretable result may be due to an elevated response to medium alone.CPT Code
