Description
Electrolyte Panel - This panel comprises a group of 4 tests that provide information on an individual's electrolytes, acid-base, and water balance. The panel is usually ordered during hospital and emergency room admission to help diagnose a range of conditions as well as monitor certain conditions or treatments that affect electrolyte balance.
Collect
One mL aliquot from a random urine sample.
Pediatric Collection
Minimum volume: 0.3 mL aliquot from a random urine sample
Storage Transport Temp
Offsite: Frozen. Send urine aliquot Priority Overnight via FedEx and in a well insulated container on dry ice.
Stability
Analyze Immediately at RT (15-25°C)
48 hours refrigerated at 2-8°C
Notes
Random urine sample is the only acceptable sample type. 24 hour collection cannot be used.
