REDCap
REDCap (Research Electronic Data Capture) is a secure, web-based application designed to support data capture for research studies. REDCap is maintained by the REDCap Consortium which is comprised of thousands of institutional partners including National Jewish Health, and is administrated locally by Research Informatics and Computing Core (RICC).
Key features:
- Data security: REDCap is designed to comply with HIPAA regulations and includes safeguards to protect research data privacy. REDCap maintains detailed logs of data entry and modifications, providing transparency and accountability for research activities.
- Data collection: REDCap can be used to collect data from participants who fill out surveys, or from project team members who log into the database.
- Data export: REDCap can automatically export data into formats that are compatible with statistical analysis packages like SAS, SPSS, Stata, and R.
- Data import: REDCap allows users to easily import data.
- Data de-identification: REDCap includes methods to prevent the export of sensitive data.
- Customization: REDCap allows users to customize databases and surveys for their specific needs.
REDCap was developed by a consortium of institutions, including Vanderbilt University, and is used by researchers across six continents.
