To ensure compliance with federal and foundation grant requirements, all investigators responsible for design, conduct, or reporting of research at National Jewish Health are required to complete Conflict of Interest training. The COI CITI course is available to fulfill this requirement: COI CITI Training
All staff involved in human subjects research at National Jewish Health must complete human subjects protection training and HIPAA training. This requirement pertains to all investigators, coordinators, IRB contacts, and all persons responsible for design, conduct, data analysis, or reporting. This Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) online program is available to fulfill this requirement. Refer to the following instructions to register and complete the training programs. There are separate instructions for first time users and returning users: IRB CITI Training
Clinical Research Services Biosafety Committee
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) requires that institutions establish an Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) to ensure that all recombinant DNA research be conducted in compliance with the NIH Guidelines for Research Involving Recombinant DNA Molecules. The IBC also reviews research protocols involving potential biohazards such as human, animal or plant pathogens; human materials (blood, cells, cell lines, tissues, body fluids, organs); and select agents (restricted human and animal pathogens and toxins that are considered by CDC to pose a potential threat to public health and safety).

National Jewish Health (NJH) fosters a research environment that promotes respect for the rights and welfare of individuals recruited for, or participating in, research conducted by or under the auspices of the Organization. In support of this, NJH has established a Human Research Protection Program (HRPP). The NJH HRPP, in partnership with its research community, is responsible for ensuring the ethical and equitable treatment of all human subjects in research conducted under NJH’s auspices.
