Search our library catalog by journal title to see our holdings

• Start on the library's main page. Select "Search Library Catalog" tab on the search box and enter the title of the journal you are looking to find. ​

• If the journal is in our collection, it will display with an access button.

To find full text for a journal article you can:

Search PubMed via Library

• Start on the library's main page. Select "Search PubMed" tab on the search box and enter information related to the article you are looking for.

• Clicking search will take you to PubMed, where you can further refine your search if needed.

• Once you have found a journal article you need, select the blue "NJ Find It!" button under Full Text Links. This will return you to the library catalog where you can retrieve the full text article or request it via ILL.

• NOTE: If you don't initiate your PubMed search from the library's website, the "NJ Find It!" button will not appear.

• If the article is in our collection, it will display with a full text access button.

• If the article is not in our collection, accept the offer to expand the search to "Libraries Worldwide."

  • When you find the article, select the "Request Item" button, which will initiate an ILL request.

HINT: Use filters on the left to narrow and/or expand the search parameters if necessary.

​If an item is unavailable in our library's collection, we can order it through interlibrary loan (ILL). This service is free of cost for NJH employees.

• Start on the library's main page. Select "Search Library Catalog" tab on the search box and enter the title of the book you are looking to find.   

• Select eBook limit on left to filter out print books. 

• Visit ClinicalKey to see their full list of eBooks, including essential textbooks. Use filters to narrow by title or specialty.

• If we don’t have the physical book you need, we can often order it through interlibrary loan (ILL). This service is free of cost for NJH employees. While we can't ILL ebooks, we can often request a specific chapter, if that is useful for you. Request a book or chapter directly using this form.

• You can check physical books out from the library for 2 weeks, with potential renewals.

ClinicalKey is a clinical search engine from Elsevier featuring e-textbooks, medical journals, images, videos, First Consult content, patient education, clinical guidelines, and much more. They also have a vast multimedia library of images and video, including procedure videos. Register for a free account to earn and track CME credits and to access the resource off-campus. EBM Reviews (Ovid)

Accessible without password while on campus. Ovid's Evidence Based Medicine Reviews collection contains EBM reviews from multiple sources, including the American College of Physicians (ACP), the National Health Services' Centre for Reviews and Dissemination and the Cochrane Collaboration. Search a single database or all at once. More information here.

Embase (Elsevier)

Embase is a comprehensive and widely recognized database that provides reliable, peer-reviewed information specializing in biomedical literature, drug research, medical device information, and indexing of conference abstracts. With a strong international representation, Embase contains all Medline records as well as millions of additional records. More information here.

Lexicomp (Wolters Kluwer)

Lexicomp Online is a collection of clinical databases and clinical decision support tools that provides users with an extensive medical library. Lexicomp provides access to clinical drug resources including: calculators, identifiers, interaction & overdose assessments, and patient education resources. This database contains the National Jewish Health Formulary. More information here.

MEDLINE (Ovid)

Accessible without password while on campus. MEDLINE is the National Library of Medicine’s bibliographic database/article index that contains over 27 million references to journal articles. Covered are basic biomedical research and the clinical and pre-clinical sciences. Ovid provides a search interface for MEDLINE that is optimized for more complex literature reviews. Lippincott Solutions, Nursing (Lippincott)

Lippincott Solutions is a suite of products that includes four essential clinical decision support and competency management products that support nurses and allied health staff at the point-of-care and the point-of-learning. More information here.

Ovid Personal Account

Access EBM and Medline databases via personal login, accessible off-campus. A more personalized experience for those wanting to save searches, create auto alerts, or have more flexibility with off-campus use. Contact your librarian for more information.

UpToDate (Wolters Kluwer)

UpToDate is a point-of-care, clinical information tool with over 77,000 pages of peer-reviewed, fully-referenced, and illustrated topic reviews. It presents a comprehensive synthesis of the evidence, followed by graded recommendations and MEDLINE abstracts. No registration required for on-campus use; register your account for free and create a login for off-campus use and for tracking CME. UpToDate is also available as mobile app. More information here.

Remote access is only available to National Jewish Health employees and affiliates with an NJH email address and VPN access. To submit a request for VPN access, use the IST work form.

Several of our subscription databases will work remotely if you create a personal account on campus, including UpToDate and ClinicalKey. Contact a librarian to set up a personal account for Ovid or Embase.
