Liz received her MS in Library Sciences in 2015. She has worked at National Jewish Health since 2010 and joined Library & Knowledge Services in April 2014. Liz manages interlibrary loan requests and serials acquisitions, and coordinates archival and special collections for the Library.

Nitzan joined Library & Knowledge Services in 2016. She coordinates interlibrary loan requests and processes and circulates library materials for patients and researchers. View Nitzan’s posts on the library blog.

  • The Library has 4,500 print books and over 200 electronic books.

  • The Library purchases over 300 core electronic journals.

  • The Library maintains 20 print journal subscriptions for browsing, and holds 10,000 bound journal volumes from 1947-1966 in core subjects. Other bound journals are held for 20 years.

  • The library has access to over 100 databases, including MEDLINE.  A complete list of databases is available in AllSearch.

  • Clinical reference books are available in print and online.

  • Consumer Health Information information can be found online and in the building, in the Helen L. Rider Health Information Center.

We support the clinical, research, and educational programs of National Jewish Health as a preeminent health  care institution. Our mission is to provide accurate and timely information, where and when it is needed, in the most useful format.

We pursue this mission by providing access to worldwide biomedical information networks and supplying an organized collection of electronic and print materials. We support informed patient care, provide current information for the conduct of novel, basic, translational, and clinical research, and provide educational resources for health care and research professionals.

Library Access

The Library is reserved for patients and their families, employees and affiliates. Employees have 24/7 access to the library with an ID badge. Due to our limited staff and resources, we are unable to support daily computer, copier, phone or fax use by guests who are not otherwise visiting campus for their daily appointments. To check out materials and use resources at UC-HSL, please complete a Patron Data Sheet, located at the library front desk.

 

Computer & Printer Access

The library maintains computers for faculty and staff. In the Health Information Center, two PCs are reserved for patients and their families. For all computers, a 45 minute limit will be imposed as needed. Printers are available for printing health and science-related information. Recreational use of the library's computers and printers is not allowed.

 

Remote Access

To access library databases or online journals and books when you are off-campus, you must use VPN or request an Ovid log-in.

Request VPN access to the National Jewish Health Network

  • Have a National Jewish Health email Address.
  • Use the IST work form and submit a request for VPN access.
  • Note: Best if you have a DSL or Cable Modem high-speed access.

To get a password to access Journals@Ovid remotely, email us.

 

Access to University of Colorado Health Sciences Library

  • If you have a joint faculty, research or student appointment with the University of Colorado's Anschutz Medical Campus and National Jewish Health, you may have access to the University's Health Sciences Library resources.

  • You must be a primary user at the Health Sciences Library. To check your status, refer to HSL's Patron Categories page.

  • Many National Jewish Health Faculty fall into the category of "Regular UCD AMC Faculty Paid by Affiliate (National Jewish Health, VAMC, Denver Health, etc.)."

  • After being authorized, you can access the database and journal resources of the Health Sciences Library from the National Jewish Health campus or from home using your name and appointed User ID.
