Working Together News

September 2020

Without a doubt, 2020 has been an extraordinary year, as we pulled together to face an unprecedented pandemic that has challenged us in many ways. At the onset of the pandemic, we quickly reshaped how we delivered services to patients and worked to stand up new services and adjust programs at both National Jewish Health and Saint Joseph Hospital to meet the evolving needs of our patients. We worked together and found the relationship we have forged over the past six years to be key in how we met these challenges. We collaborated on clinical research trials, developed and shared testing resources, jointly staffed critical care rooms and more.

Now as we look forward to the fall, we are happy to report that we are seeing our patients return to care and are moving forward even though we also recognize that, for the foreseeable future, we will need to continue our efforts aimed at defeating this illness.

Importantly, we also want to take a moment to recognize the exceptional work that has happened over the past several months. This issue of Working Together News features stories that highlight some of your amazing teamwork over the past months. We are grateful for each and every one of you.

Also, your hard work and dedication has once again been recognized on a national level. For the 24th consecutive year, National Jewish Health has been named a top respiratory hospital in the nation by U.S. News & World Report always holding either the #1 or #2 spot on that list in the pulmonary category. National Jewish Health also was recognized as “High Performing,” the highest rating available, for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and Lung Cancer Surgery in the magazine’s ratings for Common Adult Conditions and Procedures.

Likewise, Saint Joseph Hospital has a history of excellence and was named one of the top three hospitals both in Colorado and Denver on this year’s U.S. News & World Report list. Saint Joseph Hospital also was recognized as “High Performing” in five categories, including abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, aortic valve surgery, heart bypass surgery, hip replacement and lung cancer surgery.

Thank you for the excellence that each and every one of you bring to your jobs every day. Enjoy this issue of Working Together News
