This summer we celebrated our four-year anniversary of working together. Looking back over our achievements together, we can all be proud. We continue to grow in the number of patients we serve and the number of services we offer together. We are looking at more ways to collaborate on clinical research and we have launched some innovative projects in areas such as lung cancer screening and cardiac rehabilitation.
One important milestone that will take place this month is the arrival of our new Chief of Cardiology Glenn Hirsch, MD. Our organizations have worked together to recruit Dr. Hirsch, who will serve a dual role leading cardiology both at National Jewish Health and at Saint Joseph Hospital. Dr. Hirsch comes to us from the University Medical Center at the University of Louisville in Kentucky and brings a wealth of experience that will benefit both organizations and our joint programs. He will be on board later in September.
We also want to recognize National Jewish Health for again receiving the No. 1 ranking in pulmonology from U.S. News & World Report, a position they’ve held for 17 years. This ranking reflects on the entire combined organization and is in part due to superb continuum of inpatient care at Saint Joseph Hospital and outpatient care at National Jewish Health. This is a prime example of working together. And, while rankings are only one measure of success, they are an important indicator for consumers as they gather information about where to go for health care.
We hope you will take a few minutes to look through the stories captured in this issue of our newsletter, including an inspiring story from a patient who received amazing care thanks to the collaboration between National Jewish Health and Saint Joseph Hospital.
