Working Together News

June 2019

Five years ago on June 25, 2014, we announced that the Joint Operating Agreement between National Jewish Health and Saint Joseph Hospital was complete. We began officially working together. At that time, we talked about the primary goals for our organizations through this partnership, such as delivering patient-centered, innovative health care and focusing on medical education, training and research.

Today, we are happy to report that we are seeing success in all of these areas. We have opened new programs together such as the ECMO Program, an innovative technology that takes over for the heart or lungs when they aren’t stable enough to function on their own. You can read about this transformational program in this issue of our newsletter. Our doctors and medical teams collaborate regularly on patient care and are making a difference for patients like Gerald Short, also featured in this newsletter. Our doctors participate in and lead joint grand rounds. And, we have established processes to enable clinical research programs that can be conducted together.

We are making tremendous strides together, ultimately making a difference for all our patients.  We are able to do this because of each of you, the work and focus you put into your jobs and the care you provide our patients every single day. As a small token of thanks, we invite you to stop by the Molly Blank Conference Center Atrium at National Jewish Health, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. or swing by the cafeteria at Saint Joseph between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.,  and enjoy a piece of cake.  The night shift at Saint Joseph Hospital will receive a special treat, as well.

We’ve done so much together over the past five years, and we have so much more to accomplish together in the future.  Working together, we all make a difference.

Sincerely,
