Working Together News

December 2019

As we near the end of another year working together, it’s amazing to look back at how far we’ve come and to reflect on the successes of the past year.

Our joint key service lines in cardiovascular, respiratory and cancer care are thriving, and collaboration is at an all-time high. The cardiovascular team has recruited a second advanced heart failure physician and started a multidisciplinary shock program in partnership with the respiratory team. The team also started seeing cardio-oncology patients and has grown structural heart interventions, cardiac rehab, interventional and cardiac surgery volumes.

The respiratory team nearly doubled the estimated referrals for its extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) program in the first year, decreased sepsis mortality and expanded the interventional pulmonology program. Also, this team’s Press Ganey patient scores increased in all categories, and they were awarded the Inpatient Cystic Fibrosis Care Team of the Year award from the CF Foundation.

Our oncology team has grown its lung cancer screening program and recently received a grant from the American Cancer Society and National Football League to address lung cancer mortality by increasing screenings and supporting smoking cessation efforts. They also have expanded the integrated tumor board and are presenting the lung cancer early diagnostics program at the GO2 Foundation for Lung Cancer Center of Excellence symposium this month.

These are just a few of the accomplishments achieved over this past year. Thank you for your contribution to our success and for the excellence that each and every one of you bring to your jobs every day. Your dedication enables us to make a difference for all of our patients.

We hope you will take a few minutes to look through the stories captured in this newsletter.

Thank you for your hard work and your commitment to excellence. We look forward to an incredible 2020. Please enjoy the holidays with your families and friends.

All the best.
