Serum separator tube or a red top tube.
Separate serum from cells immediately by centrifugation and aliquot into a polypropylene or similar plastic tube.
Preferred volume: 1 mL serum
Minimum Volume: 0.5mL serum
Ship within 48 hours of collection if shipping at ambient temperature.
Preferably ship samples refrigerated or frozen on dry ice in a well insulated container.
Send serum Priority Overnight via FedEx.
48 hours amibient. 7 days refrigerated, 1 year at -20C or below. Avoid repeated freeze thaw cycles.
This test will yield only one result - it will not differentiate between precipitins. If specific result is needed, please order individual precipitin. This panel includes Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus fumigatus.
Note: 0.25 mL serum is required for one precipitin. Add 0.1 mL for each additional precipitin ordered.

Precipitating IgG antibodies are often present in serum of patients with hypersensitivity pneumonitis (HP) due to exposure to enviromental antigens. The serum precipitin test assists in the diagnosis of HP.
