Shelley is a longtime nursing executive with more than 30 years of healthcare leadership experience. Shelley has served as the Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President for Patient Care Services in medical centers throughout the western United States, including California, Washington, Montana, and Colorado, and has worked for academic hospitals, regional medical facilities and large health care systems including Kaiser Permanente and Community Health Systems.
Her major achievements as a nursing executive include advancing the educational and specialty levels of nursing staff by increasing certified, BSN, and Master’s prepared nurses, achieving trauma services, primary stroke center, bariatric centers of excellence, and chest pain center designations, establishing professional nursing shared governance structures, creating critical care, emergency department and OR nursing training programs, achieving and sustaining LEAP FROG A designation, and obtaining the Beacon Award for Critical Care units at institutions where she has served. Shelley has also established the Daisy Award Recognition Program for nursing professionals, and, the Monarch Award Recognition Program for non-nursing health care professionals at St. Mary’s Medical Center.
