Children age 5-11 with asthma (STICS)

Trial Objective

The purpose of this study is to find out if increasing the dose of inhaled steroids during colds can decrease the rate of severe asthma exacerbations requiring prednisone.

Study details:

  • 8 visits to National Jewish Health over a 1 year period
  • All medications are FDA approved
  • Medical evaluations (including breathing tests and physical examinations) at no cost
  • Asthma education
  • Financial compensation

Who Can Participate

Children 5 to 11 years of age who are currently treated with a daily low dose of inhaled steroids (For example: Flovent®, Pulmicort®, QVAR®, etc.) or those who have asthma symptoms suggesting that they could benefit from a daily controller medication.
