Atopic Dermatitis (Eczema) & Food Allergies

Trial Objective

Our researchers are trying to learn how food allergies affect the skin of eczema patients.

Atopic Dermatitis and Food Allergy

Study participation involves:

  • One to two visits to the clinic
  • Skin swabs and questionnaires
  • Possible allergy testing
  • A small blood draw (if your child has atopic dermatitis)


This project is funded with Federal funds from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, National Institutes of Health and Human Services, under Grant 1U19AI117673-01 and Grant UM2AI117870.

Who Can Participate

We are seeking individuals age 4-17 years who:

  • Have atopic dermatitis and a peanut allergy, or
  • Have atopic dermatitis but not food allergies, or
  • Do not have atopic dermatitis, allergies, or asthma.

Participants may not have a history of eczema herpeticum or other skin disease.
