Email Story Print Story Statement on Mask Requirement in Colorado JULY 16, 2020 DENVER — National Jewish Health supports the statewide mask requirement announced today by Colorado Governor Jared Polis. Wearing a mask is a known, effective measure that limits the spread of the COVID-19 virus. It is a step that we can all take for our own health and for the health of our families, our neighbors and the broader community. As health care providers, we have seen firsthand the devastation this illness can have on the lives of those who contract it. Wearing a mask in addition to handwashing and social distancing are ways we can all help to reduce the number of people who contract COVID-19. We applaud the Governor for taking this step and urge compliance. National Jewish Health is the leading respiratory hospital in the nation. Founded 124 years ago as a nonprofit hospital, National Jewish Health today is the only facility in the world dedicated exclusively to groundbreaking medical research and treatment of patients with respiratory, cardiac, immune and related disorders.
