Elizabeth Redente Honored for Scientific Achievement Make an Appointment Make a Donation Contact Us Elizabeth Redente, PhD, was awarded the Jo Rae Wright Award for Outstanding Achievement by a Young Investigator at the 2019 American Thoracic Society International Conference, in Dallas, Texas May 17-22. Dr. Redente received the award for her research on the role of matrix metalloproteinase-9 in resolution of lung fibrosis. Her work suggests that MMP-9 may be a therapeutic target for resolving scarring in diseases such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Since 2012, Jo Rae Wright Award for Outstanding Science has recognized demonstrated potential for significant achievement and contributions. This award is aimed at the rising generation of individuals who will be tomorrow’s leaders in science. The American Thoracic Society meeting is one of the biggest and most important meetings of the year for National Jewish Health and pulmonologists around the world. The conference program listed more than 90 presentations by National Jewish Health faculty and staff, ranging from basic science of epithelial cells to educational sessions on bedside ultrasound and the latest results from clinical trials of new asthma medications and more.
