The New York AIR Society was founded in 1991 when New Yorkers who had been treated at National Jewish for asthma and allergies came together to form a young, influential group. The clinical treatment they received provided the inspiration from which the AIR Society sprang. The group has maintained its identity as an assembly of young professionals from a variety of industries in the New York Metro area. Over the past 17 years, the AIR Society has raised in excess of $2 million to fund research, patient care, and clinical and educational programs at National Jewish Health. National Jewish Health is known worldwide for treatment of patients with respiratory, cardiac, immune and related disorders, and for groundbreaking medical research. Founded in 1899 as a nonprofit hospital, National Jewish Health remains the only facility in the world dedicated exclusively to these disorders. Since 1998, U.S. News & World Report has ranked National Jewish Health the #1 respiratory hospital in the nation.
