National Jewish Expands in Littleton

JULY 01, 2006

DENVER — National Jewish Medical and Research Center will bring its nationally recognized expertise in respiratory, allergic, and immune diseases to Littleton beginning July 10. National Jewish physicians Kirstin Carel, MD, and Anne Lent, MD, will begin seeing patients of all ages at 1510 West Mineral Avenue, where National Jewish has provided sleep diagnostics and treatment since 2000.

“We are expanding to meet increasing demand for our services,” said Michael Salem, MD, President and CEO of National Jewish. “As part of that expansion, we decided to offer our patients in southwestern Denver easier access to our physicians.”

Drs. Carel and Lent both trained at National Jewish, which has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report for eight years running as the best respiratory hospital in the nation. Dr. Lent, Assistant Professor of Medicine at National Jewish, is board certified in internal medicine and allergy/immunology. Dr. Carel, Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at National Jewish, is board certified in pediatrics.

The two doctors will offer diagnosis and treatment of allergic, respiratory, and immune diseases, including asthma, allergies, atopic dermatitis, sinusitis and recurring infections. Additional services, including spirometry (pulmonary function testing) and immunotherapy (allergy shots) will also be available in Littleton . Staff at National Jewish in Littleton will help coordinate access to additional services at the National Jewish main campus in Denver, including behavioral health, nutrition, rehabilitation and education; and comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders.

Appointments for both children and adults at National Jewish in Littleton are now available by calling 1-800-222-LUNG (5864).  National Jewish in Littleton will also offer on-call coverage 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
