National Jewish Health Kunsberg Classic: Dinner at Shanahan’s and Golfat The Sanctuary on August 7 and 8 Benefits School for Chronically Ill Children

Golfers from across the nation will gather August 7 and 8in Denver forthe National Jewish Health Kunsberg Classic, presented by RE/MAX, LLC andsponsored by Shanahan’s. Funds raised will go to Kunsberg School,a tuition-free day school at National Jewish Health for 90 chronically illstudents in kindergarten through eighth grade.

The two-day event begins with a private dinner on August 7at Shanahan’s steak and seafood restaurant. On August 8, participants willenjoy at a day of golf at The Sanctuary, the exclusive, world-recognized coursein Sedalia, Colorado.

The mission of Kunsberg School, which is mostlysupported through donations to National Jewish Health, is to provide a safe,friendly and healthy school environment where students succeed academically,medically and socially. Typically, Kunsberg students have fallen behind theirpeers in school because of respiratory illnesses including severe asthma and/orallergies, sickle cell anemia, diabetes, HIV/AIDS and other disorders.

Kunsberg students receive care and learn to manage theirillnesses from three nurses and National Jewish Health pediatricians. They eatnutritious meals, exercise daily and practice positive social interaction. Thestudents learn in small classes from teachers with advanced degrees using thelatest educational technology tools; they demonstrate their knowledge byshowing steady improvements on the CSAP test and outpacing their peers insimilar schools. Upon graduation, Kunsberg students have the skills to leadhealthy, productive, meaningful and active lives.
