Statement Regarding the Passing of Dedicated Board Member Phil Karsh

Philip KarshThe Board, faculty and staff of National Jewish Health were saddened to learn of the passing of dear friend and devoted leader Phil Karsh on November 11, 2016.

Phil was a long time board member and gave more than 53 years of service to the boards of National Jewish Health and the National Asthma Center in Denver. From 1991 to 1995, he was chair of the Board of Directors. He also served on the Development Board, and the Executive Committee as well as Compensation, Finance and Strategic Planning committees. In 1999, Phil served as chair of the National Jewish Health Centennial Celebration and was instrumental in its success. He had an incredible 40-year career in advertising – founding and leading the Denver-based firm of Karsh│Hagan. 

In 2014, Phil received the National Jewish Health President’s Award for his prominent leadership in our philanthropic communities, working to further the mission and vision of National Jewish Health. He was always engaged with good humor and great ideas for moving this organization forward. His philanthropic leadership extended to numerous other organizations in the Denver community.

Phil will be long remembered as an inspiring leader and a true friend. He will be sorely missed.
