NHLBI Childhood Research and Education (CARE) Network

The Childhood Asthma Research and Education (CARE) Network is a National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute sponsored research program initiated in September 1999.  It is the first National Institutes of Health network program dedicated to childhood asthma.

The project began with the identification of five study centers and a Coordinating Center. National Jewish Health in Denver, CO is one of the five study sites. The other sites include: St. Louis, MO, Madison, WI, Tucson, AZ and San Diego, CA.

The major objective of this Network is to identify issues in the management of childhood asthma and to develop protocols to address these issues. Another major objective is to disseminate our observations in educational settings.
