Federal Assurance

An assurance is the documentation of an institutional commitment to comply with Federal regulations and maintain adequate programs and procedures for the protection of human subjects.

This is the principal mechanism for compliance oversight by the Office for Human Research Protections (OHRP).

Under the Department of Health and Human Services human subjects protection regulations 45 CFR 46.103, every institution engaged in human subjects research supported or conducted by the Department of Health and Human Services must obtain an assurance of compliance approved by the Office for Human Research Protections.

National Jewish has an approved Federalwide Assurance with the Department of Health and Human Services: Assurance Identification Number FWA00000778, expiring on August 23, 2007.

National Jewish is registered with the Department of Health and Human Services, Office for Human Research Protections (OHRP): IORG Number: 00000024.
