Mycobacteriology (TB) Laboratory: Requisitions and Specimen Handling

Accepted Sample Types:
- Pure cultures and raw specimens.
- Agar plates are acceptable only through a local courier.
- Cultures in liquid media including BACTEC 12B, MGIT vials, ESP, etc.
- Raw specimens such as sputum, stool, bone marrow, CSF, tissue, biopsy and autopsy specimens, etc. should be in a sealed tube or container, preferably in a 50-ml polyethylene centrifuge tube.
Samples must be shipped according to IATA regulations.
