Lung cancer patients and survivors and their caregivers and family members are invited to attend two monthly meetings. The meeting on the first Thursday of the month will include a 30-minute education presentation (a different topic each meeting), followed by open discussion of any topic. The meeting on the third Thursday of the month is a full hour of open discussion/support group. The group is open to people who have received treatment at National Jewish Health and elsewhere.
Anticipated discussion topics for the education meetings include alternative therapies, nutrition, physical therapy, paying for health care, returning to work, stress management, symptom management, and other topics of interest to the group.
We will also offer "Talk with a Doc" sessions where the guest speakers will include Dr. Jeff Kern, head of the cancer center; medical oncologists Dr. Laurie Carr and Dr. Jim Jett; and other doctors.
Each meeting will include a formal presentation for the first 30 or so minutes followed by open discussion on any topic.
