Research on Data or Specimens

This application process is for research that does not involve contact with human participants in person or through any medium (phone, internet, or brochures). This application process is commonly used for chart review studies or research on data or specimens obtained from a data or specimen bank.

For this type of research, the IRB uses a "progressive" application form that can accommodate non-human subject determinations, exempt determinations, or expedited review.
