Special Interests
Clinical & Research Interests
My goal is to help children breathe and exercise comfortably. In both the clinical and research arenas, I am interested in children who cannot or do not exercise (with or without a known breathing problem). I have a unique skill set because I received extensive training in exercise physiology outside of the traditional medical training system. In this sense, my expertise extends well beyond breathing problems. Most doctors, even most breathing doctors, do not receive training in problems related to exercise or exercise testing. Many patients are incorrectly referred to heart doctors to evaluate exercise problems when true heart conditions leading to exercise intolerance are rare in kids. I have a great working relationship locally and nationally with other breathing doctors as well as heart doctors, muscle doctors, endocrine doctors, and other specialists and researchers who share an interest in exercise. This is essential in coordinating the proper care of children and solving challenging problems.
