Why did you want to become a teacher?
I had a brother who had to be homeschooled when he was in second grade because he had leukemia. When he was healthy and could return to school, his teachers were so mean to him, because they thought he was still sick. My family kept homeschooling him for a few more years. I loved teaching him to read and decided I wanted to become a nice teacher who could teach kids, no matter what was going on in their lives.

What is it like to work at Morgridge Academy?
It is my favorite teaching position, ever. I really love working with the kids at Morgridge Academy.

Where did you go to school and when?
New York, Suny New Paltz: Bachelor's in Elementary Education, 1988; Master's in Special Education, 1989

How did you find Morgridge Academy?
I was searching for a lovable job.

What do you do in your spare time?
In my spare time I love to travel and write about the places I travel to. I run a Writing Club for kids in Lakewood and also volunteer with the homeless. I love to take pictures, as well.

What is your favorite teaching story?
My favorite story from Morgridge Academy this year happened during the field trip to the Colorado History Museum. My students were so involved, asking questions and staying interested in the exhibits, that teachers from other schools complimented my Morgridge Academy students.

What is your education and work history?
My teaching history includes teaching at all levels: elementary school, middle school and high school. I've also worked at an outdoor educational lab and on the Apatche Indian reservation. I've taught in Arizona, Alabama, New York, Holland and also London. Morgridge Academy is the 7th school where I've taught.
