Age-Related Macular Degeneration Diagnostic Test Co-Development
In 2007, Toronto-based Arctic Dx set out to translate compelling research on the genetic basis of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) into a prognostic test they could market in the United States. Their search for a CLIA lab with expertise in molecular diagnostics led them to National Jewish Health Advanced Diagnostic Laboratories.
The two organizations quickly formed a partnership, and within 4 months launched Macula Risk®, a laboratory developed test (LDT) to assess the risk of AMD progression from early or intermediate AMD to advanced AMD.

As a result of this strategic partnership, Arctic Dx and Advanced Diagnostic Laboratories have developed a formidable alliance based on the successful commercialization and adoption of AMD testing by optometrists and ophthalmologists throughout the United States.
