Become a Patient

National Jewish Children’s Art Galleries

The National Jewish Children's Art Galleries  contain patients' artwork and personal comments about living with a chronic illness. The work was produced by children and adolescents in various art therapy groups and individual sessions at National Jewish.

Having a chronic illness often involves having to deal with many challenges, such as multiple hospital admissions, taking many medicines, missing school, invasive medical procedures and testing, and interrupted family plans.

In response to these difficult issues facing chronically ill patients and their families, the National Jewish art therapy program provides opportunities for patients to explore and identify ways to manage their illness.

Art therapy uses various materials and techniques to facilitate expression. The art therapy process provides an effective means for patients to explore their feelings and concerns related to their chronic illness and the impact it has had on their lives. In addition, the art therapy process helps patients creatively problem solve, reduce feelings of stress related to illness and procedures, and increase self-awareness and confidence.
