Division of Rheumatology / Endocrinology / Gastroenterology: Research and Laboratories

Through clinical research we are helping discover which medications might be best for patients with many diseases. We are also investigating new therapies which may be released in the future. Many of our disease are related to problems with immune system, and many of the new therapies are directed towards helping rectify these subtle abnormalities. Our division is particularly interested in these types of problem and we are relentless in the search for the best treatment for each patient.

Current research initiatives include:

  • A Randomized, Double-Blind, Parallel Group, International Study to Evaluate the Safety and Efficacy of Ocrelizumab Compared to Placebo in Patients with Active Rheumatoid Arthritis Continuing Methotrexate-Treatment Phase. Funded by Genentech Incorporated.
  • A Long Term Study of the Safety of Rituxan in Patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis After an Inadequate Response to Previous Anti-TNF Therapy (SUNSTONE) Funded by Genentech Incorporated.
