About The Department of Pediatrics

The Department of Pediatrics focuses on pulmonary, allergy, cell biology, pharmacology and psychiatric/social disorders and has 16 faculty members, 4 affiliated staff, 2 research staff members and 6 clinical fellows. The University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and National Jewish share an integrated Immunology Department, which is primarily housed at National Jewish. This Department includes research across the spectrum of clinical to basic research. The embodiment of the pediatric professional services is exceptional in its contribution to the understanding of the pathogenesis of asthma and allergic and immunologic diseases.

In the early 1970’s the Pediatric Allergy & Immunology program was established to fill the growing need for teachers and increase the number of physicians trained in this subspecialty. Now, in conjunction with the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and Children’s Hospital, the Division of Pediatrics offers a broad-based accredited two–year fellowship program with the option of a third year. Many pediatric allergists have moved on from this program to significant leadership positions in Pediatric Allergy and Immunology around the country and around the world. Where are our fellows now?
