National Jewish Expands with Acquisition of South Denver Pulmonary Associates

Continuing the expansion of its services in the metro Denver area, Colorado and nationwide, National Jewish Medical and Research Center has merged with the thriving practice of South Denver Pulmonary Associates.  The practice, which officially joined National Jewish on March 1, 2008, will be renamed National Jewish South Denver, and its six physicians will become National Jewish faculty members.  This is the second alliance of this type; National Jewish partnered with East Denver Pulmonary Associates six months ago to become National Jewish East Denver.

“This partnership is mutually beneficial to both parties,” said Robert Maulitz, MD, of South Denver Pulmonary Associates.   “Joining National Jewish allows us to maintain our local practice and referral patterns in south Denver, while availing ourselves, and our patients of the resources of a globally renowned medical and research center.”

National Jewish South Denver will combine convenient, personalized care with the extensive resources of National Jewish Medical and Research Center. 

“ Through National Jewish South Denver, our patients will have access to comprehensive pulmonary rehabilitation, cutting-edge therapeutic and diagnostic tools, and opportunities to enroll in clinical research studies,” said Richard Martin, MD, Chairman of the Department of Medicine at National Jewish.   “The physicians of South Denver Pulmonary Associates will be a welcome addition to our faculty.”

National Jewish South Denver physicians are Michelle Beutz, MD; James Fenton, MD; Robert Maulitz, MD; Richard Mountain, MD; David Taryle, MD; and Mary Laird Warner, MD.   They will continue to provide pulmonary consultation and see patients at their current office in Englewood, and follow up with their patients when they are hospitalized at Swedish, Porter, Littleton, Select and Craig Hospitals.  National Jewish plans to expand the practice in the coming months with additional pulmonologists.
