Life-long Denver resident and long-time National Jewish Health donor Mickey Pomeranz will celebrate her 98th birthday with a jazz-themed party on Sunday, October 20, at Dazzle Restaurant and Lounge in Denver. In lieu of gifts, she has asked that friends and family make a contribution to The Pomeranz Fund at National Jewish Health.
She selected her birthday theme this year because of her love of jazz music. With the event at Dazzle Restaurant and Lounge, Mickey is building on the success of a fundraiser she held in 2012 to benefit Morgridge Academy. Numerous friends and family gathered at Costco for hot dogs and fun.
Mickey was attending exercise classes at the National Jewish Health pool when she first learned about Morgridge Academy (formerly Kunsberg School) for chronically ill children. Since then, Mickey has been dedicated to raising funds and awareness for the school and other pediatric causes at the hospital. In 2009, she was honored for her work at the National Jewish Health VIP Kids Luncheon in Florida.
In addition to her work on behalf of the school, Mickey is dedicated to raising awareness globally among health care workers and the general public about hospital-acquired infections. She learned more about these challenging infections after a personal experience with an infection in her leg.
National Jewish Health is grateful to Mickey for her decades of support to Morgridge Academy and wishes her a wonderful 98th birthday!
