The most common symptoms are:

  • Shortness of breath with activity
  • Non-productive cough
These symptoms are generally slowly progressive, although rapid worsening can also occur.

Some people also may experience (depending upon the cause of pulmonary fibrosis):

  • Fever
  • Weight loss
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle and joint pain
  • Abnormal chest sounds
