Why did you want to become a nurse?
I became a nurse after trying other things. I was not ready for college the first time around. I had been in some sort of healthcare since high school. Once I got into nursing school, I got pretty good grades and I was very happy to be there.

 

What is it like to work at Kunsberg?
I enjoy Kunsberg. I get to see every kid every school day. I like teaching health and working with the teachers and staff too!

 

Where did you go to school and when?
I went to High School in Brighton a long time ago. I graduated from the University of Colorado School of Nursing in 1994.

 

How did you find Kunsberg?
I saw an ad in the newspaper. I have a good friend that works at National Jewish Health and she thought that working at Kunsberg would be great.

 

What do you do in your spare time?
I love to do crafty stuff with my kids. I like to sew and to knit.  I also love to read and listen to books on tape.

 

What is your favorite teaching story? 
I like it when kids come to me when they aren’t feeling well. Sometimes there isn’t anything physically wrong, a hug is the only thing needed. I like that kids trust me to help them.

 

What is your education and work history?
I graduated in 1994 from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, School of Nursing with a BSN. In 2007 I became certified as an Asthma Educator.

I have done many things throughout my career. I have worked in an adult Internal Medicine Clinic. I have taught other nurses how to work specific computer programs. I have worked for another school district in an elementary school and as a Head Start Nurse. I also have worked on an orthopedic unit.
