Our Doctors and Staff
Our Sleep Center is staffed by a team of experts in the field of sleep medicine:
Medical Director: Teofilo Lee-Chiong, MD
Dr. Lee-Chiong is a pulmonologist with an interest in Sleep Medicine. He has been with the sleep medicine program at National Jewish since 2003.
Dr. Lee-Chiong has edited two major textbooks in Sleep Medicine: Sleep Medicine (2002) by Elsevier, and SLEEP (2006) by John Wiley and Sons. He was also the guest editor for four Clinics by Saunders (Medicine, Primary Care and Respiratory Care) devoted to topics on sleep. Dr. Lee-Chiong is the consulting editor of Sleep Medicine Clinics.
Dr. Lee-Chiong is the Amereican College of Chest Physicians (ACCP) governor for Colorado and Wyoming. He is a member of the ACCP Sleep Medicine Network Steering Committee. He is also a member of the editorial board for CHEST and PCCU, and of the Standards of Practice Committee of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. He is a board member of the Colorado Sleep Society. Finally, he is a manuscript reviewer for several medical journals.
Sleep Specialist: John Harrington, MD
Operations Director: Lori Spindler, B.S.
Ms. Spindler has over 15 years of experience in healthcare. She has been with the sleep medicine program at National Jewish since 1998.
Sleep Lab Manager: Anne Fox, RPSGT
Ms. Fox has over 20 years of experience in the field of sleep medicine and has been with National Jewish for 6 years.
Sleep Counselor: Kathi Breen, BA, CRT, LRT
Kathi is a Registered Respiratory Therapist with over 11 years of experience in the fitting and administration of CPAP Therapy.
Polysomnoghic Technologists perform sleep studies in our Sleep Lab. They have advanced training in performing sleep studies, and are required to undergo ongoing continuing education to remain current in their field.
Accreditation
The Sleep Center at National Jewish is one of the few sleep medicine programs in the Denver region accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. In order to be accredited by the AASM, we must continually demonstrate performance that meets or exceeds the highest level of performance.
In addition, National Jewish is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. This accreditation also requires the adherence to strict quality and performance standards.
