Medical Surveillance Program

The Division of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences has been providing comprehensive medical surveillance programs to employers, labor unions and government agencies for the past 15 years. Our staff of professionals includes: board-certified pulmonologists and allergists, occupational/environmental medicine physicians, radiologists (who are also NIOSH certified B-readers), certified Physician Assistants, epidemiologists, clinic coordinators, occupational health nurses, and medical assistants. National Jewish Health has state-of-the-art and fully accredited imaging, lung function testing and clinical laboratory facilities.

 

Medical Surveillance Services

All of our medical surveillance services are performed in accordance with the relevant OSHA standards. The standard medical surveillance programs include:

Customized Medical Surveillance Packages

We have the ability to customize the services provided, based on the needs of the employer and per the relevant OSHA standards.  Our medical surveillance packages can include some or all of the following:

  • Physical examination by board-certified physicians
  • Spirometry (NIOSH-certified and ATS compliant breathing tests)
  • Audiometry (CAOHC certified hearing tests)
  • Laboratory testing, including blood and urine testing (routine and specialized screening)
  • Vision testing (including color)
  • Chest x-ray with B-reading if required
  • 12-lead EKG  and/or exercise stress testing
  • Exercise physiology, including exercise oximetry
  • Respirator fit testing (qualitative and quantitative)
  • Customized results reporting

National Jewish Health has clinic five days per week – dedicated to medical surveillance. We can work with the employer in setting up times that are convenient for both the employer and employee. To determine your employer needs please refer to the OSHA website.
