The Asthma Wizard
Chapter 20: Going to School - Page 2

Tina: My parents helped me. See the wizard's list of things to do to help you with your asthma at school. We followed the list.

  • Ask your doctor to write a School Action Plan. This says what to do if you have trouble breathing at school.
  • Ask your mom or dad to meet with your teacher or school nurse to let them know about your asthma. Give them a copy of your School Action Plan.
  • Make sure you have medicines at school to take if you have trouble breathing. You should have the medicines that are listed on your School Action Plan.
  • If you are supposed to take your medicine every day, make sure you take it every day so you don't have trouble breathing.
  • Use your peak flow meter and watch for asthma symptoms every morning to know how your asthma is before you go to school.
