Bob Mettler is Chairman and Chief Executive Executive Officer of
Macy’s West, a division of Federated Department Stores Inc. He had been
President and CEO of Macy’s West. Previously, he was President and CEO
of Joske’s, Vice President of Allied Stores, and President and CEO of
L.S. Ayres in Indiana.
In 1987, Mr. Mettler was President and CEO of Robinson’s Department
Stores and in 1993, he joined Sears as President of Apparel/Home.
Three years later, he was named President of Merchandising Full-Line
Stores for Sears, Roebuck and Co.
Mr. Mettler holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Virginia.
Mr. Mettler has served on the Board of the Shelter Workshop Programs
for the Mentally Retarded, the State of Texas Special Olympics, and the
United Way of Dallas. He is currently on the Retail Advisory Board at
the University of Santa Clara, the Board of Trustees of the University
of Virginia College Foundation and the Board of Governors of the San
Francisco Symphony and is a member of the California Business
Roundtable.
Mr. Mettler and his wife, Susan, have four children.
